[edit] Important Folders

Primary

  • Pauli - the main file server where files are stored. Keep your most important and most accessed files here, as they are backed up to tape regularly. But space is limited, so keep your folders organized and clean!
\\pauli\users\ the "users" directory where everyone's folders and files can be found
\\pauli\users\acl\ where the non-lab member folders and files can be found

Secondary

  • Young & Younger - secondary file storage systems #1 & #2. Store large fMRI data or unused files here. These are also backed up to tape regularly, but access is not as fast as pauli. These are physically connected to, and accessed through pauli.
\\pauli\young\data\ the "users" folder of Young
\\pauli\younger\data\ the "users" folder of Younger
\\pauli\young\data\acl\ old lab members' folders and files
\\pauli\younger\images\ shared images files and folders (e.g. IAPS, FACS)
\\pauli\younger\software\ software and drivers
\\pauli\younger\data\ the "users" folder of Younger

Tertiary

  • Watson - the backup file server (put less important files here for quick backup but CLEAN UP AFTER)
\\watson\public\backup backup
\\watson\public\FUN hold on to your pants

Backup

  • Turbo - backup of Pauli, Younger, and Younger
\\turbo

This is very roughly how one can imagine the ACL network.

[edit] Server Tower

If you ever have to do some emergency troubleshooting, or you feel like taking a brisk walk through the Server Room, here's a basic schematic of what things are in there.
