Testing Room Rules
From ACLab Wiki
[edit] General Rules
- NO FOOD OR DRINKS IN THE TESTING ROOMS OR PSYCHOPHYS CUBES.
- Be sure to book the room/cubes you need on the ACL Calendar.
- Check the calendar to see if someone else is running a study at or around the same time to help prevent keys becoming misplaced, participants being mixed up, etc.
- Be courteous to other experimenters and participants (e.g. don't interrupt ongoing testing by knocking or entering; check the calendar first)
- Be prepared. Arrive earlier and bring the materials you need (consent forms, etc.) to the room before your participants are scheduled to arrive and wait for them there.
[edit] Room 604/605 Rules
- Participants should go directly to Room 604/605, not Room 624.
- Depending on your study, you should either return to the lab while the experiment is being run, or sit in the testing room in a place that is not facing the participants (e.g., sit at an empty computer).
- If you return to the lab, make sure you know how long your study takes so that you can return to the testing room before it is finished. If you are returning to the lab and are concerned that one of your participants has not shown up and may appear late, you can leave the sign on the door asking them to go to room 624 (in order to prevent them from knocking on the testing room door and disturbing your participants).
- If you are staying in the testing room, you can place an appropriate sign on the door.
[edit] Psychophys Cubes Rules
- Participants should go directly to 606, and not walk through the lab.
- Experimenters can wait on the chairs in the room (outside the cubes) while participants are completing the experiment.
- If your experiment requires silence (e.g. you've purposely booked all three cubes) place an appropriate sign on the door.
- When the garbage cans in the psychophys cubes are full, please empty them into the main lab garbage. The cleaning staff does not do this.
- Don't move equipment around in the cubes! If you need to set up equipment for a new study or the equipment is getting in the way of your study, please contact the lab manager.
- Put your own equipment away when you're finished with it. This includes headphones, the impedance meter, gels, paper towels, etc. Different experiments use different equipment and other experimenters should not have to search for equipment just before testing.
- If we're running low on supplies such as gel, electrode stickers, etc., contact the lab manager to order more. If you're in a rush, you can purchase simple things like kleenex or Q-tips--just remember to keep the receipt to be reimbursed by the lab manager.
